monday.com certifications are offered through monday academy and are organized by role. At the time of writing, the four certifications are Admin (95 dollars), monday CRM Pro (95 dollars), AI Work Platform Core (95 dollars) and AI Work Platform Advanced (195 dollars), each a timed online exam with free self-paced lessons to prepare. A certification is worth it for the people who shape how others work: account admins, board builders and CRM owners. For regular team members, short training on your own setup delivers more value than a certificate. The best return usually comes from a small certified core team plus role-based training for everyone else.
We run role-based programs as part of our monday.com training, and we often help clients decide who should certify and who should not.
Which monday.com certifications are available?
Here is an overview based on monday academy at the time of writing. Prices and names can change, so check monday academy before you register.

| Certification | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Admin | 95 dollars | Account admins responsible for users, permissions, security and account structure |
| AI Work Platform Core | 95 dollars | Power users and builders who design boards, automations and dashboards |
| monday CRM Pro | 95 dollars | CRM owners and sales operations |
| AI Work Platform Advanced | 195 dollars | Experienced builders who own cross-team workflows, intake processes and advanced automations |
Preparation is self-paced. You can study with free monday academy lessons and schedule the exam when you are ready. The exams are scenario-based multiple choice, take 90 minutes to 2 hours, and need 80 percent to pass.
Who should get certified?
Account admins. The Admin certification covers governance, permissions and account structure. For anyone responsible for keeping an account secure and organized, it is a sensible baseline. Pair it with a clear governance model; see our guide to monday.com governance and permissions.
Builders and power users. People who create boards and automations for their teams benefit most from AI Work Platform Core, and those who own cross-team workflows from the Advanced certification. It helps them build consistently instead of reinventing structures.
CRM owners. If you own the sales pipeline setup, monday CRM Pro gives structure to what you learn. Combine it with our monday CRM implementation guide.
Developers. monday.com does not list an API certification at the time of writing, so developers learn more from the developer documentation and a real integration project. See using the monday.com API and integrations for developers.
Is a monday.com certification worth the money?
For the roles above, usually yes, for three reasons:

- Structured learning. It fills gaps that self-taught users do not know they have.
- Consistency. Certified builders tend to follow the same patterns, which keeps accounts cleaner.
- Credibility. Internally and externally, it signals that someone knows the platform.
Where the value is limited:
- For occasional users, a certificate teaches far more than they need.
- For design decisions, certification teaches features, not which process design fits your organization. That comes from experience across many implementations.
Standmark’s CEO made that point in their case study: “If you really want to get the most out of the platform, it helps to have someone who can bring together experience from multiple projects.”
When is team training the better investment?
When the goal is adoption. A team member does not need to know every column type. They need to know how to do their daily work in your setup: update their items, use their views, find what they need.

A cost-effective model for most organizations:
| Group | Approach |
|---|---|
| 2 to 3 admins | Admin certification plus a governance workshop |
| Builders per department | AI Work Platform Core, plus build standards for your account |
| CRM owner | monday CRM Pro certification |
| Everyone else | Short role-based sessions on your own boards |
| New joiners | A recorded onboarding path plus a buddy |
If adoption is already fading, certification will not fix it on its own. Read why monday.com adoption stalls after 90 days first. And for brand-new users, our beginner’s guide to getting started with monday.com is a free first step.
How should you prepare for a certification exam?
- Use the free monday academy lessons for your certification track.
- Practice in a sandbox board instead of your live account.
- Build a real mini-project, for example a request intake with automations and a dashboard, applying general project management logic.
- Review your own account with what you learn: you will usually find improvements immediately.
